Brand Guidelines
Brand guidelines exist so your brand survives contact with everyone who is not you — the freelancer building a landing page, the agency running your ads, the new hire making a deck at 11pm. They are an operations document, not a coffee-table book.
Every brand guidelines engagement includes a kickoff call, at least two review checkpoints, and a structured handoff so your team owns what we build.
Why most guidelines get ignored
They are too long, too abstract, and answer questions nobody asked while skipping the ones people actually have. A hundred-page PDF explaining brand values will lose to a two-page reference that says which font, which hex codes, how much clear space, and what not to do. The test of a guideline document is whether someone unfamiliar with your brand can produce something acceptable using only that document. If they need to ask you, it has failed.
What we include
Logo usage with the misuses spelled out visually, because showing the wrong version is more effective than describing it. A type scale with actual sizes rather than vague hierarchy. Colour with hex, RGB, CMYK and accessible pairings noted, so nobody has to guess whether white text passes on your brand colour. Imagery direction with real examples. Tone of voice with before-and-after rewrites instead of adjectives. And templates for the things you make constantly.
Keeping them alive
Guidelines drift the moment they live in a PDF on someone's desktop. We deliver them in a format your team can reach — a hosted page or a shared workspace — so the current version is the one people find. Expect to revisit them annually, and whenever you add a channel the original document never anticipated.
